So Many Supplements!

Let’s talk supplements !

There are so many amazing supplements out there that can have great benefits for our pets. I tend to recommend a lot of different supplements to my patients to help with joint health. When it comes to choosing which supplement is best for your pet and which company is reputable, it can be stressful!

Things to keep in mind when looking at supplements for your pet:

1) If a company constantly raves over client testimonials, RUN! They are not proving anything. You need the FACTS!

2) Look into what kind of studies the products have undergone. Companies that do specific studies (blinded, randomized, prospective placebo) with adequate outcomes, are good to stick with. There are very few studies on supplements, so if a brand does a decent amount of them, you know they are reputable. You also want to see if they do studies at other facilities, not just their own.

3) If you wish to look further into a product, head on over to www.consumerlabs.com to look into the product.

4) You want to make sure that the brand has a stamp of approval from the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC). There will be a little stamp on the bottle or website.

***Studies show that if products are purchased from stores and analyzed in an inadequate lab, 25-35% of products have no or little active ingredients in them. ***
