IS YOUR DOG BORED?
Pets get bored just like we can! Boredom tends to lead to different unwanted behaviors. Each age and breed of dog can exhibit different behaviors at different levels.
Here are some ways to tell if your dog seems like they need something more to do during the day:
Naughty behavior: Is your dog getting into things around the house like the garbage can or your dirty clothes!? Are they eating things that they should be or ripping things up?
Digging: This is a natural behaviors for a dog BUT if your dog is digging numerous holes in the backyard where you don’t want them to, this can be problematic.
Barking/Demand Barking: Are you trying to talk on the phone or watch TV and someone keeps barking at you? Does your dog bring you a toy, drop it at your feet and bark? OR, does your dog just stare out the window most of the day and bark!?
Chewing: This is a natural behaviors for dogs BUT we don’t want them chewing on things they aren’t supposed to. Are they chewing up their beds? Your bed/couch!? Are they chewing up carpet or anything else random around the house.
Your pup may exhibit other behaviors that’s seem to be an indicator or them being bored, but these tend to be very common ones!
How can you keep your dog busy and happy??
Go for a walk
Tug of war
Set up an obstacle course
Teach them a new tricks
Good game
Brush up on obedience work
Do some grooming (brushing, nails, brush teeth)
